It was one of those evenings when only the brave at heart or foolish ventured abroad for it was a bitterly cold and frosty evening in 1897 when we found ourselves once more up stairs at Baker Street. Holmes was in a thoughtful mood content with the world after solving the case of the Spanish brides and had smoked several pipes from the old slipper. I had been reading the papers we were thus occupied for some time the cozy fire in the hearth burning away merrily.
Mrs. Hudson had just brought in t… Continue
Just got back from practice for the Sherlock weekend in Cambridge--The Case of the Taylor Tontine. Two months and counting. The cast is great. I had suspicions at first but Anne did a great job at casting. Even the Cambridge chief of police is great as the local law enforcement.
I'm still suspect with the new movie coming out and their casting. We'll have to see how Sherlock stands up to the best one of all time (in my opinion) Jeremy Brett. Continue
The rumors are true, according to Sarah Palin: The McCain-Palin campaign was not a happy family. In Palin's new memoir, "Going Rogue," she confirms reports of tension between her aides and those of the 2008 Republican presidential candidate, Sen. John McCain. The vice presidential candidate confirms that she had wanted to speak on election night, but was denied the chance and says she was kept "bottled up" from reporters during the campaign.

I am interested in starting a new scion.

I was recently notified of a new promotion for the upcoming film Sherlock Holmes, which integrates the social networking site Facebook as part of a game. Hey, while we're at it, please consider becoming a fan of the Baker Street Blog on Facebook.

"THE MYSTERY OF THE COLD ROOM" PART 1
The old house looked stately as the Robinson's slowly drove down the long lane towards the main entrance to what was to be their new home. Bill and Kim weren't sure about taking-up residence in such a place, but since Bill's uncle Bob had left the big place to them after his passing; they seemed compelled to accept the old house, and move in; besides the home had been in Bill's family for several years, and it wouldn't seem right t… Continue
I would like to let my Sherlockian friends know that I have just finished the stage design for Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure, which opened this weekend at Wayside Theatre in Middletown, VA. If any of you live nearby, I would love to meet you at the theatre. Our rendition of this play is energetic and imaginative, both visually and aurally. Below is what is called a "white model" of my design. Please let me know if you are able to attend. If not, at least check out Wayside Theatre at waysi… Continue
The Case of the Taylor Tontine is almost here. I don't know how many people will be able to solve the mystery though. I suppose if the crime solver is astute from the beginning and uses Sherlock's methods then they will have a good chance. The writer added lots of twists. The actors are amazing. Only 3 more months. The weekend is January 8-10, 2010. Tickets are going fast!

Rumor (or is that rumour?) has it that the rough cut of Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes didn't sit too well with executives, and they've asked him to make some changes.
According to Hollywood columnist Liz Smith, Ritchie is turning to his old friend and colleague Brad Pitt to step in and save the day. His role? If the rumors are correct, we'll be seeing Mr… Continue
Robert Downey, Jr. and Rachel McAdams were interviewed by MoviesOnline.com. Here's an excerpt:
Q: Robert, can you talk about your take on Sherlock Holmes?
Robert: My take is what the puritans [sic] would expect, if the puritans know what they’re talking about, that is. Several of the most surprising things right off the bat are that oft associated props have never appeared in the novels or the short sto… Continue
I recently moved to an "active adult" community and soon recognized an opportunity to gather a new group of Sherlockians from among the members of the community. This became the impetus for the establishment of the Regency Irregulars. It is an interesting undertaking to establish a scion from scratch so to speak. The Regency Irregulars has twelve members as well as participants from the White Rose Irregulars who attend our meetings as their schedule's permit. The members of the RI are all novice… Continue
I am a long time Sherolckian formerly of the Red-Headed League of Jersey. I'm in my later years and trying to down-size my possessions. As a result I have a collection of SH books including 1978 - 1989 issues of the BSJ which I would like to dispose of to a worthy recipient rather than to trash. I would be happy to email a list to anyone interested in acquiring the material. Continue
