We're a very lively group with diverse opinions and a unique, sometimes snarky and bizarre sense of humor. But everybody is extremely nice and friendly, and there is always something Holmesy to talk about.

Just wondering if you had a chance to check out the Lost Skeleton dvd. Larry Blamire has done some other films, including a sequel, but can't find distribution outside film festivals and art houses.

BTW, there are two commentary tracks on the Skeleton DVD. BOth are great fun in themselves, describing the pain and imagination it takes to make a low budget film. Sounds like they had a great time despite the adversities. The commentaries on some of the Firefly episodes are like that, too.

Like your interest in the Universal horror movies (which weren't really all that horrorifying in the splatter and gross-out sense) Right now, I am getting into B science fiction from the 1950s---both the major studio productions (e.g. Creature...Black Lagoon) and the independents. You might want to watch Lost Skeleton of Cadavera, which is a loving tribute to those low budget movies. Commentary tracks are great fun. It's interesting how Sherlockians are interested in similar genres.

Thanks for the invitation to join this group. I am so looking forward to the conference next month, also.
BTW, my grandfather's family is from Bellaire. I visted there only once, in about 1970.

What a cozy little social network. I feel like there should be virtual tea to send to your friends. That Scott Monty fellow should get on that.

Profile Information

Relationship Status:
Single
About Me:
I am from Ohio. I grew up in a small town and am currently living in a slightly bigger one. ;)

I enjoy writing, though I have not been published. You may have seen me on the internet at various sites under the name 'ScarletSherlock'. I enjoy writing fanfiction as well as original material. I participated in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) last year and plan to do it again this year.

I'm a huge movie nerd--I will watch almost anything. I particularly like Holmes movies (duh) and classic horror films like the old Universal and Hammer films.
Website:

Favorite Books:
anything with Sherlock Holmes in it--Doyle or pastiche, Frankenstein, Lord of the Rings, The Phantom of the Opera, She's Come Undone, A Wrinkle in Time, His Dark Materials, Jurassic Park, The Great and Secret Show/Everville, The Last Unicorn, The Divine Comedy, The Lost World, etc.
Favorite Holmes:
Clive Merrison, hands down.

On-screen it's Peter Cushing, followed extremely closely by Basil Rathbone. My top 5 is rounded out by Ian Richardson, Jeremy Brett, and Christopher Lee.

Scott Monty mentioned it on another site (I forget where! whoops).

First Post!

Hello, fellow Holmesian friends. As those of you who know me from other places on the 'Net, I'm a blog-fiend. I'm also a frequent reader of Holmesian pastiches, so expect to see a lot of my thoughts on those here!

For now I just wanted to say hello, and thank you to Scott Monty for this great idea. We Holmesians tend to be a very social group so I think this is a fantastic idea. I'm not exactly sure why this is...I've been involved in several "fandoms" and none of them has ever been as
