I agree Joshua that the film's portrayal of Watson was one of the better aspects. I thought Jude Law was better as Watson then Downey was as Holmes and certainly McAdams as Adler.

I am writing a Screenplay based on "The Valley of Fear",(for 2 years) keeping it straight Conan Doyle, but this story needs a lot of edits and changes to flow correctly on screen. I can go on and on about this project email me if you want to discuss. I knew this would be a challenge and boy has it.
