That was just what I was thinking. David Tennant is very versatile and has that sharpness of feature one associates with Sherlock Holmes. Hugh Jackman should be good. I always thought Richard E Grant as possible Holmes or possible Dr Who.
I personaly think that David Tennant would be perfect for this role. Hugh Jackman would be good but... David better. David has the look, the peronality, everything.

Julian Richings would make an excellent Holmes !!!! He looks just like the Doyle's' descriptions. And like every other great Holmes actor,he spent some time playing bad guys.

Hugh Laurie would be an interesting choice. Even more apt, as a friend of mine recently suggested, would be Stephen Fry as Mycroft.
One name I haven't heard suggested is Ralph Fiennes. he's a superb actor, but sometimes overlooked.
