This film was made in 1986 and Sean Connery plays a Monk from Baskerville named William and he is assigned to solve some seriously bad behaivior at an Abby in Italy. You can't miss Sherlock Holmes' character throughoutr this film. Greed and murder run rampant in this, out of the way, mountain Abby. His sidekick is Adso of Melk (Christian Slater), who is also the author/narrator of the story. So Watsonish! You will need all of your fingers to keep track of the actors you will recognize in this pastiche. Ron Perlman gets the +++ for his part. A bit harsh at times but so is life. If this were a book you would be licking your fingers to turn the pages.
